Leah Was Blessed By God

Leah was blessed by God Pinterest graphic.

Growing up in Church, I thought I should like Rachel and Joseph because Jacob loved them and because Joseph was hated by his brothers. But as I was reading through my Bible I saw that it was Leah who was blessed the most.

Genesis 29: 30 – 31: “And he [Jacob] went in to Rachel, and he loved Rachel more than Leah, and he served him [Laban] seven other years. 31 And when the Lord God saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.”

God looked on her affliction at the hands of Jacob and Rachel and blessed her because she was hated.

I thought it was strange that even though Joseph was blessed because he was hated as well, we didn’t really hear much about him thereafter. Yes, his sons Manasseh and Ephraim took his place among the tribes of Israel, but they still weren’t mentioned that much.

However, it was Leah’s sons who we constantly hear about and have the roles of the most importance throughout the Bible and throughout history. Reuben, Simon, Levi, and Judah.

God greatly favored Leah. I want to be favored like Leah. In the midst of the struggles and trials that we face, I want to look out and see how God’s using them for good and for blessing. Shalom.
